Documents parades, most of which occur on Philadelphia's main streets. Includes parades of veterans (in Americanization Day, as Veterans of Foreign Wars, from the Spanish War, in Army Day, Lafayette Day, and in Commodore John Barry Day). Also depicts labor parades protesting Philadelphia's water works, democratic parades, Spiritual Defense parades sponsored by the city's protestant community, Pulaski Day celebrations by Polish Americans, Lafayette Day, the firemen's parade complete with a view of the city from the head of the Parkway, and a parade of the Civil Air Patrol. Many images portray Independence Hall, City Hall, Logan Square, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, children with flags, and drum majors. Contains views of parades at 69th and Marshall streets celebrating the opening of the new road and views of Delaware Avenue during the Port of Philadelphia parade. These subject entries for the Philadelphia Record newspaper's photo morgue are primarily for Places (buildings, parks, streets, etc.), Things (Bicycles, Bison, Blind Persons [just sampling the B's]), Events (Democratic National Convention 1936, Flourtown Fair, Harvest Week) and Social Constructs (Home Economics, City Planning, Eating & Drinking, etc.).
