Item Description:	"Extract from the forty-sixth annual report of the Bureau of American Ethnology." From the manuscript of an undated report made, probably, about 1854: it "concerned the native tribes of the upper Missouri river, to wit, the Arikara, the Mandan, the Sioux, the Gros Ventres, the Cree, the Crows, the Assiniboin, and the Blackfeet ... although the Assiniboin seem to have been the chief subjects of his observations." cf. p. 377, 379.
