Summary: The Dreer Collection contains primarily autographs, letterbooks, journals, literary manuscripts, other small collections, and a collection of English and continental mid-19th century literary figures assembled by Samuel Carter Hall. The scope of the Dreer collection includes political and military figures, fine and performing artists, clergymen, scientists, explorers, and American, British, and European literary figures, etc.
The Etting Collection also contains autographs of distinguished Americans and Europeans, 1558-1887; family papers of the Gratz, Frank, Etting, and Hart families; papers on the career of Frank M. Etting, etc.
The Logan family papers include papers of James Logan and other Logans, as well as papers of John Dickinson, Henry W. Stiegel, and others. The Deborah Norris Logan diaries reflect the social life of many prominent Philadelphia families and political, religious, and cultural developments.
