In this address, Mr. Binns reviews the story of the Witness Tree, a stately oak still standing a few yards from Donegal Presbyterian Church in Lancaster County. Around this tree, tradition has it, members of the congregation joined hands one Sunday in the summer of 1777 to pledge their lives to the cause of freedom for the American colonists.
