It contains a new preface by "Tommaso Giunti alli lettori," giving an account of Ramusio, but in other respects appears to be an exact reprint of the edition of 1554, without additions."--Sabin v. 16, no. 67732 With three double-page copperplate maps entitled "Prima Tavola," "Seconda Tavola," and "Terza Tavola," preceding leaf 1 of the text Colophon: Stampata in Venetia, nella stamperia de gli heredi di Luc'Antonio Giunti, nel mese di Gennaio MDLXIII. [1563]. Errors in foliation: leaf 126 misprinted as 120, 127 as 121, 129 as 126, 174 as 173, 180 as 280, 270 as 27, 307 as 308; 162 repeated. Signatures: a⁴ b-d⁸ e¹⁰, ²a-u⁸ x¹⁰ y-3b⁸ 3c¹⁰ (3c10 blank; ²x3, 4, 5 missigned as ²x2, 3, and 4). Registro on the last leaf verso. Printer's device on t.p. and on verso of last leaf: initials and printed marginalia. Includes index. Library copy: Blank ²c10 has been removed. This copy does not contain the three double copperplate maps (the "tre tavole" of the title) mentioned in Sabin, Bibliotheca Americana, v. 16, no. 67732, and noted there as "often lacking." |
