Autobiogrpahy of an indentured servant, arriving from Ireland to New York in 1732. Contains an account of her troubles with her master in Pennsylvania, her marriage to a school master and their lives in New England, her return to Pennsylvania to visit Quaker relations and the cruel treatment at the hands of her husband. Fared better with Aaron Ashbridge, whom she married in 1746 after the death of her first husband. Returned to Ireland and died in 1755. Account closes in Feb. 1753 and manuscript apparently was copied c.1775 and some information added by Aaron Ashbridge, perhaps to give to a relative or descendent. |
