Contains interior and exterior views of banks in Philadelphia, many the scene of a robbery. Images highlight central office buildings of banks located in Center City, particularly those near Penn Square. Other images document the history of financial institutions. Portrays depositors standing in front of Clarke Brothers (in New York) and at the Union National Bank in the Mutual Trust Company building during band runs. Includes views of marble used in the construction of the Federal Reserve Bank, and the construction and subsequent cave-in at the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society skyscraper (including a view showing a photographer shooting men carrying a body). Depicts the PSFS observatory as well as a bomb shelter and air raid controls. Shows a war bond rally in front of the Fidelity Savings & Loan Associiation, as well as architectural details of the building. Documents the Land Title & Trust Company's war efforts and their attempts at modernization by adding a new customer service department. Portrays the pistol team at Franklin Trust. Christmas carolers at Liberty Title and Trust, and the exterior of the Citizen's & Southern Bank (called the only Afro American bank). Illustrates the transfer of money during a building move by the Market Street National Bank, and an elevator operator strike at the new building. Recreational activities sponsored by the Corn Exchange like the annual Flower Show, baseball game, and the employee lunchroom are featured. Contains interiors and exteriors of several branches of the Pennsylvania Company for Insurance, including two images of records donated to the Historical Society. Also documents the Provident Trust Company loan of Millet's "The Sower" to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
