Summary: The collection consists of an account book for the farm of Pierce Butler in Branchtown, Philadelphia, known as Butler Place. A note at the front of the book says that the volume was given to James McManus "for the purpose of keeping Accounts and is to be given to the Owner Mr. Butler at his request." Accounts record wages paid and the buying and selling of seeds, vegetables, livestock, and manure. The names of sellers and purchasers are often recorded. The volume also includes a few records of crop plantings, cow breedings, receipts for payment, and two notes concerning the administration of Pierce Butler's estate.
