Summary: James McCord began researching the history of the McCord family of Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the 1950s. He noted that "the McCords were some of the earlist pioneers of Pennsylvania, arriving in 1720 in Derry, PA in what was then Chester County, then later was in Lancaster County in 1729 and now is in Dauphin County." This collection contains several booklets and other papers he produced from that research. Materials include a book of handwritten notes created by James McCord from DAR records in Washington, DC, typed documents, and website printouts. There are compilations of journal notes and bible records; a list of the descendants of John McCord (1732-1804); a list of McCord family line designators; copies of traditional Scottish ballads and songs; and undated mailing lists. Several items have been spiral bound, such as a report on the McCord surname from the Ulster Historical Foundation; typed transcriptions from the bible records of William J. McCord from the mid-1800s; a list of books and publications on the McCord family in the LDS library at Salt Lake City, UT; and a typed copy of federal census records from 1790-1840. There is also a bound copy of Mr. McCord's book "The American Revolution and the McCords."
