The collection includes about twenty letters and telegrams from the sons to each other or to their mother. Also included are a few photos two ration books, and some miscellaneous notes. Arthur Breunig (December 29, 1913-August 20, 1986) served in the Pacific from June 1942 till November 2, 1944. The collection contains two letters and two telegrams from Arthur. John Joseph Breunig (November 16, 1919-October 20, 1966) served in New Guinea. There is only one letter of his preserved. Milton Breunig (August 2, 1922-February 7, 1997) was the youngest son and most of the letters preserved were from him. He served in Germany and France from June 22, 1944-January 25, 1946). His letters were to his mother, and brothers Carl and Arthur. His letters suggest that Carl remained a civilian during World War II.
