520 |a The Fox (originally Fuchs) and Bessonett (also Bessonet or de Bessonett) families of Philadelphia and Bristol, Bucks County, were brought together with the marriage of Philadelphian James C. Fox (1806-1856) and Bristol's Catharine Ann Bessonett (1813-1867). Some members of the Fox family worked in Philadelphia as bricklayers under the name Samuel Fox and Sons. The couple was married in 1834 in Bristol, but they along with other members of the Bessonett family eventually moved to Natchez, Mississippi. This donation is comprised of several mid-19th century letters between members of the Fox and Bessonett families, with most of them originating from Philadelphia. Making up this grouping is a mix of original letters with and without transcriptions, and copies and transcriptions of letters for which there are no corresponding originals. Also in the collection are copies of photographs, a copy a list of interments (circa 1819-1892) at Ronaldson Cemetery in Philadelphia that includes several Fox family members, and genealogical information on the Bessonett family.
