Summary: |
Isaac Thackray (1881-1961) and his son, Horace (1905-1978), each worked for the Philadelphia Transportation Company (formerly the Philadelphia Rapid Transit Company), for at least half a century. They were among forty-four individual honored at the PTC's 50-Year Men testimonial dinner on October 13, 1953. In this donation is a panoramic photograph and program from that event. There are also two identification cards indicating that Isaac had been employed as a plumber by George H. Stier in 1918, and that Horace worked as a contractor at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in the mid-1940s. An additional item with this material is a handwritten note from 1909 concerning a meeting of PRT motormen and conductors. |
