Summary: These two early 20th-century albums containing various pressed plants and flowers from eastern Pennsylvania were created by students Elmer A. Gray of Bala Cynwyd and Marion Prizer of Drexel Hill, who would eventually marry. Marion’s album dates to 1917, and it contains thirteen cardstock pages with pressed plants. On each is handwritten the name of the plant, its location (Cobbs Creek or Fairmount Park), and date of collection; verso is written her name and school class. The album made by Elmer is a herbarium he made while at Collegeville High School that dates to 1920. It contains twenty-seven plant specimens along with detailed information about the composition of each one. Most of Elmer’s plants came from Montgomery County. All specimens in both albums are well-preserved and intact.
