| 520 | |a This donation consists of a small but rich assortment of family correspondence, vital records, and other items of and on the David family of Wales and Snow Shoe, Centre County, Pennsylvania. While the family's heritage dates back to the 1700s, Jenkin David (1865-1910) established the family in Pennsylvania in the late 1800s. He married another Welsh immigrant to Pennsylvania, Sophia Morgan (1866-1949), and they had three children. David worked as a miner for the Lehigh Valley Coal Company until his death in 1910. The collection is in English with one item in Welsh, a broadside memorializing Mr. Morgan Rees, who died in 1883. A number of the family letters, though in English, originated from Wales. | ||
