Each family file contains notes and copies of articles, vital records, court records, land records, and other related documents. In addition to files, there are six binders containing even further information on various family members. There is also a full photocopy of the “Cowell Genealogy” by John M. Cowell (1879). Prior to helping establish Congregation Mikveh Israel in Philadelphia, Solomon Marache (1734-1819) worked as a merchant in New York City. He moved to Philadelphia and devoted much of his life to the new congregation. He married twice, first to Rebecca Myers, and second to Mary Holton, and he had at least three daughters: Judith, Henrietta (married Thomas Armstrong), and Hannah (married John V. Cowell). He resided on North Mulberry Street.
