He was a physician in the Muncy region of Lycoming County, which was still fairly undeveloped (Muncy borough was incorporated in 1826). These volumes state the name of each patient, where he or she lived ("mouth of Beach Creek," near B Eagle Bridge," "lower end of Muncy-town,"), what each person owed him, and what the sum was for (visits to members of the family, medicines, vaccinations). Daybook A includes notes on six lectures by Benjamin Rush. John Wallis (another son of Samuel and Lydia) "Book of Entries containing Many useful Precedents of Special Pleadings Writs &c Carlisle. 1796" 143 pages describing cases in Pennsylvania (mainly Philadelphia County) that set various legal precedents. 8 daybooks and a ledger, 1836-1841, of Cowden Smith Wallis, a son of Samuel H. Wallis, who appeared to do extremely brisk business in his general store. We also acquired his other business records that were available -- a cashbook for 1840-1845 that also has weather reports and another one for 1845-1848. The ledger and second cashbook have a smattering of accounts from the 1850s as well.
