The ship was involved in numerous battles and damaged several times. In late September 1782 the Alliance seized four British ships, Kingston, Anna, Commerce, and Britannia, which were sailing from Jamaica and carrying rum, coffee, sugar, and logwood. This volume documents the award of prize money distributed to members of the crew following the seizure of those vessels.
