Summary: These papers contain correspondence, wills, documents of Richard Renshaw and his family. Renshaw was justice of the peace for the District of Southwark, Philadelphia County, 1807-1835, and most of his incoming correspondence, 1789-1831, relates to this office. There are several personal letters from Caesar Augustus Rodney and a few of Renshaw's own letters. Alice Johnston Renshaw Neil's letters, ca. 1840's, to her brother give social notes from Philadelphia. There are wills, deeds, notes, accounts, and letters, 1790-1911, on the estates of the Johnston, Renshaw, and Neil families, particularly about coal lands in Northumberland County.
