Summary: Advertisement for Morton's Salt featuring an armored Spanish Conquistador holding a sword aloft in his right hand.  The Conquistador gazes up at a tomato skewered by his blade.  The copy recounts the history of the tomato in the United States, beginning with the importation of tomato seeds from South America by the Spanish, their nickname "poisonous love apples" and use as table ornaments, and the story of a Salem County, New Jersey man who "ate a tomato and lived to tell how good it was."
