Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Elliptical with pebbled finish (1839- mid 1840s). Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with with a limited quantity "Medallion of Three Roses" design [Plate 128 page 120 of "American Miniature Case Art" by Floyd and Marion Rinhart (Cranbury, New Jersey: A. S. Barnes and Co., Inc., 1969)] both front and back, with a gilded edge trim on both the exterior and interior; with a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a floral design (ca. 1857).
