Summary: Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman with arm resting on cloth covered posing table, hair parted in the center and covering most of the ears, wearing a long bell sleeved dress of the habit-front style in a pattern-printed fabric, with a fitted bodice with long tapered darts, buttoned up the front, a tight armscye and high neckline of the whitework collar, trimed epaulettes, whitework undersleeves, a pencil chain around her neck, with a gilded brooch at her throat, gilded drop earrings, a gilded ring on one finger, and a gilded watch chain hooked through a buttonhole, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with a floral design [similar to the moderately common case design "Lily and Rose" Plate 114 on page 113 of "American Miniature Case Art" by Floyd and Marion Rinhart (Cranbury, New Jersey: A. S. Barnes and Co., Inc., 1969)] with a gilded exterior and interior edge trim, a red velvet pinchpad, and a ruby red velvet cushion embossed with a flower and vase design (ca. 1850).
