Summary: Image: 1/6 plate; Two seated young woman, one with dark hair in shoulder-length ringlets parted in the center, with a ribbon tied in the back, wearing a mid-toned dress with a snug bodice, no center seam but two diverging darts from the rounded waist point, with long capped belled sleeves with cuffed white undersleeves, and a high neck with a standing collar, two rings snug on her fingers, the other with dark hair parted in the center and split over the crown, covering the ears, wearing a dark short-sleeved dress buttoned up a front center seam with two diverging darts from the rounded waist point, a high dagged edge white collar and broach at her throat, and wide dark ribbons at each wrist, two rings on her fingers, with color applied to both their cheeks. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Octagonal with sandy finish (late 1840s). Case: Leather-covered wood frame embossed with a rare Flowers design (Berg No. 5-104) on the front only, with a plain (unembossed) back, a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a floral design (ca. 1849).
