Voices of the turtledoves : the sacred world of Ephrata /
The Ephreta Cloister was a community of radical Pietist Germans founded by Georg Conrad Beissel, a charismatic mystic. In 1720 he and a few friends sought a new life in William Penn's land of religious freedom. This work looks at the sacred world that flourished at Ephreta.
