Summary: Marcia Moss Lewis (Mrs. George C.) was a professional genealogist who verified information on applicants to various patriotic societies. She lived in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The collection consists primarily of surname files, many of which contain research toward various people's membership in patriotic societies such as the Society of the War of 1812 and the Sons of the Revolution. These files include notes, applications, copies and extracts from primary and published sources, pedigrees and some correspondence regarding the research and applications. The collection also includes miscellaneous information on place names in Bucks County and transcripts of deeds from Germantown Township (17th and 18th century). Spiral notebooks and other notes of genealogical research on various families, including Eichelberger, Miller, Evans, and many others. The notes are from published sources, and primary sources such as deeds and wills. The information pertains primarily to 18th and 19th century people, mostly from Pennsylvania, although there are other states represented. There are also some notes on how to conduct genealogical research.
