Summary: Jonathan White is a technical sergeant (retired 2019) of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard 111th Fighter Wing; and he previously served in the U. S. Air Force Reserve and the U. S. Army. This collection documents his achievements, along with the history of his family, which includes the Whites, Prices, and Holmes. There are small sets of copies of original documents, family trees, and other items pertaining to each family; a more extensive collection of family history documents, photographs, and videos lives on seven DVDs that are included. Making up the bulk of the collection are 139 laminated letters, notices, and certificates that document White’s achievements from his days at Beeber Middle School to his participation in Philadelphia’s Phil-A-Job program to his time in the military. Recognition and appreciation awards and letters make up a large portion of the collection -- including those from the Philadelphia Eagles, the Tuskegee Airmen (of which he was named a life member), and various U. S. presidents -- a number of which he received in regards to his efforts to save a local family from a car accident in 2009. Comprising additions to the collection made in 2023 are more materials relating to the career, achievements, and family of Jonathan E. White. Among the papers are those on the history of the related Holmes family; a number of items from and relating to track and field event and teams, particularly Central High School; Central High School and other class photographs from the 1990s; papers relating to White's retirement from the Armed Services; and other copies, clippings, magazine articles, and letters.
