520 |a This collection includes an array of the Ujima Collective’s organizational records and newsletters, as well as publications, flyers, and other ephemera from related groups in Philadelphia. There is a substantial collection of newsletters, newspapers, and brochures from many grassroots activist organizations both affiliated with and independent of local colleges and universities. There are also a few local business directories. This collection provides a useful overview of the underrepresented populations in the political and arts scenes of the late 1990s in Philadelphia. Aside from an essay by David Greason on empowering African-American college students, the collection contaisn little personal information on the founders of the organization.
