This is a collection of papers from the Bingham estate office in Philadelphia that mostly spans from the early 1800s to the early 1900s, with just a few papers dating outside this span. The records primarily document the work of estate trustees Harry Clay, Effingham B. Morris, and, to a lesser extent Charles Willing, to maintain control of the vast amount of land (in Pennsylvania, New York, and Maine) owned and rented by the estate. The collection consists primarily of deeds, mortgages, leases, and letters to and from the estate office. Notably, there are scattered papers from the Estate of Madame la Marquise de Darrax (some of which are in French), which was apparently administered in some part by Harry Clay.
