Summary: Image: 1/2 plate; Extremely faded image of three figures; a seated female on the left and a seated male on the right with a cloth covered posing table between them, a male standing behind; the female, with hair parted in the center and tucked behind her ears, has an arm resting on the table, her hand by her chin, with the other hand resting on her lap, wearing a striped dress with the fabric cut on the bias in a chevron pattern on the bodice, with a small trimmed cape of matching fabric draped around her shoulders; the seated male with one hand on his knee, and the other resting upon the table, appears to be clean-shaven and is wearing a striped vest with a dark jacket, collar points turned down; the standing male is leaning against the table, with one elbow resting upon it, hand near his chin, the other hand set upon an open book laid on the table, wearing a dark jacket, patterned vest, and light shirt, collar points turned down, also appears clean-shaven. Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with a geometric design on the front and back, with a interior gilded edge trim, a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a scrollwork design (ca. 1850).
