Summary: Item is a pamphlet titled National Savings Bank, Freedman's Savings and Trust Company.  The FSTC was chartered by Congress.  It includes the Rules of deposit, Cashiers of Branches and Branch Locationsand Board Members.  The note to colored people is a lesson in budgeting and thrift that is closely tied to morality and clean living.  The pamphlet also includes a Table of Gains, The Success of the Company, An Act to Incorporate the Freedman's Savings and Trust Company, and the By-laws of the FSTC.  The inside of the back cover advertises the Colored Citizens' Savings Bank as "Abraham Lincoln's gift to the Colored People." 

Epigrams appear in the pages of the booklet including "Save the pennies, and the dollars will take care of themselves," "Little by little the bird builds her nest.  Save your dimes and build you a house.  Save your dimes and buy you a farm," and "Tall oaks from little acorns grow."
