Summary: Gaius Leonard Halsey (1845-1911) was a lawyer from Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, who worked for a number of mining companies, as well as both the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the Lehigh Valley Coal and Navigation Company. From 1898 to 1911, he served as a judge with the Court of Common Pleas of Luzerne County. Halsey was born to Richard Church Halsey and Anna Sprowl in Nesquehoning, Carbon County, but was raised in White Haven, Luzerne County. He married Sarah Elizabeth LeVan of White Haven in 1882, and together they had five children. This photographs album is brimming with images of Halsey and his family in and around White Haven and Wilkes-Barre. The majority of the images are candid and casual, and at least a few are identified with slips of papers containing hand-written captions or names.
