Defendants, "an Executive Committee of the Democratic Union Festival of the States of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey," failed to pay the tavern-keeper (Bashford) agreed charges for accommodations when the festival, at Trenton on Nov. 20, 1834, was poorly attended.
