Item Description: These letters, written during the years 1767-1769 by Hutchinson, Lieutenant-Governor Oliver, and others, came into the possession of Benjamin Franklin, who transmitted them to Massachusetts. Their consideration by the House of Representatives and Council of the Province led to the adoption by both bodies of petitions for the removal of Hutchinson and Oliver. The letters were also published separately, without the resolutions (Boston, Printed by Edes and Gill, 1773) under title: Copy of letters sent to Great-Britain, by His Excellency Thomas Hutchinson, the Hon. Andrew Oliver, and several other persons, born and educated among us.
