Marion E. Potts worked in Japan for the Lutheran Church as a school teacher from 1921 to 1941. Upon her return to the United States, she was assigned to work with Japanese Americans at the Manzanar, California, Relocation Center from 1942 to 1945. She served as vice-principal of the high school there. She returned to Japan, then came back to the United States in the mid-1950s and taught adult classes for the foreign-born at the Chinese Christian Church and Center and several other Philadelphia locations.
