520 |a Zygmunt Nagorski was Nagorski was a Polish émigré who worked as a journalist and editor in the United States. Previous to his time in the U.S. he worked as an attorney in Warsaw, as a member of the Polish government in exile during WWII (head of "lecture division"), and worked as a correspondent for the Allies during the war. In the United States, Nagorski worked as the editor of the Foreign News Service, and as a journalist with the the Christian Science Monitor, the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Denver Post, the Money Manager (East-West Trade), and the Boston Post. He also authored a number of books, his articles appeared in numerous scholarly journals, and he additionally provided policy papers for Carter during his Presidential campaign. A leitmotif of his writings was the tyranny and consequences of enforced Communist regimes. The additions to the Zygmunt Nagorski Papers consist of four boxes dating from 1939 to 1995. The boxes include Nagorski's articles and related correspondence; general personal correspondence; newspapers and clippings; articles and speeches; published brochures and books; personal documents; various manuscripts; and press releases. Some highlights of the additions include correspondence with the editors of the NYTimes, Reader's Digest, and the L.A. Daily News, as well as Lord Halifax and employees of the Carter campaign (including Richard Holbrooke); a 1944 declassified government document dealing with the future of nuclear material in American industry; copies of two of his books; personal correspondence from his numerous jaunts around the globe, primarily addressed to his family; and a 1948 letter written by his wife to their then still small children, explaining their efforts to reach the U.S. and their early struggles there.
