The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard was established in 1801 in the Southwark District of Philadelphia. In 1876, it was relocated three miles south to League Island at the confluence of the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers.
This collection includes contemporary copies of two Officer of the Day Logs, July-December 1837 [Am .6893] and January-December 1849 [Am .6896], reporting on ship work assignments.
Also included are two volumes of Sailing Master Day Reports: June 17, 1842-May 29 1843 [Am .6894], and May 31, 1843-May 30, 1844 [Am .6895], on yard laborer and ordinary work assignments; signed by Michael Clear. |
