The Minne-ha-ha Lodge No. 1 of Philadelphia was the last existing lodge of the Independent Order of Sons of Malta. Of southern origin, the organization was founded in 1857, introduced in the North by W.J. Florence in 1861 and "having for its object fraternal, social, and charitable purposes." Its membership included senators, congressmen, governors, generals, businessmen, lawyers, authors, and publishers. Its policy of non-introduction of new members earned it the name "Last Man's Society." It was dissolved on February 22, 1903.
