Summary: Fisher was a Quaker merchant in Philadelphia and a surviving partner in Joshua Fisher & Sons. This collection of diaries and account books include Samuel R. Fisher's travel diaries, 1767-1793, for trips to England, Ireland, Charleston (S. C.), Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Rhode Island. Travel diary, 1787, to Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia contains critical comments on slavery. One volume of Fisher's memoranda, 1768, or expenses on trip to England, and one volume of orders of English goods (a record of Fisher's business with English merchants), 1767-1768. A diary, undated, by an unidentified Friend describes a trip from Charleston to Georgia and contains critical comments on slavery. Collection also includes Deborah Fisher Wharton's diary, 1856, describing a trip to New York City and family news.
