James Pemberton diary
James Pemberton was a Philadelphia Quaker merchant who was exiled to Winchester, VA, by the Committee of Safety for supposed Loyalist sympathies. This diary covers the full period of exile, from the journey south in September 1777 through to Pemberton's return to Philadelphia in April 1778.
