The books range from general overviews of the railroad to those highlighting specific aspects, from its cars to its destinations. There are many newspaper and magazine clippings that are often arranged with related documentation and photographs. A number of binders serve as scrapbooks and contain detailed information about the Reading Railroad Company's history. There are also two facsimile copies of a 1934 map showing the railroad's lines, a facsimile copy of elevation drawings of a train station from 1893, a guide book from 1912, and a number of original schematic drawings dating from the 1930s and 1940s. The vast majority of these materials relate to the Reading Railroad Company, however, there are a few things that highlight other railroads in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Comprising additions to the Richard Freeze collection on the Reading Company (#3834)are the following items: a copy of a 1922 Department of City Transit (Philadelphia) report on the Frankford elevated line; The Road from Upper Darby (1967) by Harold E. Cox; a 1971 reprint of a Philadelphia street and railway guide from 1887; a 2012 booklet on SEPTA's new Silverliner V trains, and 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer article on the 100th anniversary of the Market-Frankford El.
