Papers cover the various issues and concerns addressed by the Law Academy of Philadelphia. According to its constitution, of which an 1844 pubished copy is included in this collection, the purpose of the academy was to afford students of law and young Bar members the means to improve themselves in legal and forensic accomplishments. Also included are the bylaws and one set of minutes, 1897, concerning the formation of the Trial Club, which was established by the Law Academy to afford its members wider opportunities for jury trial practice. Other papers consist of membership resignations, 1861-1863, a published address of 1901 and a volume of cases, 1861-1869, from which students could prepare arguments. |
