Processing Information: The Iwanicki family papers recieved a preliminary phase of processing in 2015 as part of the Howard Lewis Project. Most of the collection has very little or very chaotic order. Some boxes contain filing folders of material collected by Edwin Iwanicki regarding Pennsylvania restaurants and hotels that are highly organized, but the majority of the collection has materials that are highly intermingled and/or very poorly arranged.
Boxes that were readily identifiable as consisting of a majority of materials originating with one particular family member were separated in order to create a preliminary series arrangement. Charles and Edwin had the most number of clearly identifiable boxes. As such, the collection was arranged into the following preliminary series: Series 1. Charles Iwanicki, Series 2. Edwin Iwanicki, Series 3. Grace Iwanicki, and Series 4. Mixed materials
The collection contains a number of erotic or sexually explicit materials such as pornographic photos and magazines, nude photographs or "French postcards," Tijuana bibles, informational sex pamphlets, erotic literature, etc. It was determined that these materials should stay with the collection but were removed from their original boxes and placed in separate, clearly labeled document boxes at the end of the collection. |
