Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood frame embossed with a floral design on the front, and a scarce geometric design (Berg No. 5-81) on the back, with an interior gilded edge trim, a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (ca. 1850). |
