Records describing over 6500 collections (~21 million individual items) of manuscripts and graphics, amassed since 1824, by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP).
The Society's collections center on eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and parts of Delaware and Maryland, but also include a wealth of materials on the eastern United States, the founding of this country, and the diversity of ethnic and immigrant experiences across the United States. The Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies merged with HSP in 2002.
