Summary: |
This donation consists of 108 found photographs; thirty-nine are dated and sixty-nine are undated. Seventeen of the dated photographs showing images from a 1947 parade in Salt Lake City Utah were sent to Mrs. K. Wojcik, 1508 E. Susquehanna Ave., Philadelphia from Leo J. Wojcik, a soldier who was, at the time, in the Ft. Douglass Hospital in Utah. The remaining dated photographs are mostly images of men in uniform, women at Atlantic City, NJ, a military wedding, and street scenes from California. There is also a portrait of Leo Wojcik in uniform, a postcard souvenir booklet from San Luis Obispo, CA, and images from a USO show in Korea. The undated photographs are mostly those of soldiers, military equipment, a military wedding, and family members. There is also a small card and a Reading Company ticket stub.
Based on the similarity of the people and scenes in the photographs, it is highliy likely that they originated from the Wojcik family, who were living in Philadelphia during at least the 1940s and early 1950s; hence, the collection has been titled as such. |
